During Easter break (4-7 April), he took part in the Nationals Open Portugal Championships and became a double national champion, winning 2 gold medals on the events 50 (31.25) and 100 breaststroke (1:08.72).
As a result of his performance, he was selected by the national federation to represent Portugal at an international meet in Malaga, Spain on 26-28 April
